Motor Protection Module (MPM)

The MPM is an OPEN architecture mobile rated motor protection module for 3-phase induction motors (and transformers) up to 3.3kV with measurement scale options to 600A or 1000A.

Where required, the MPM can switch contactors directly (coils up to 240VAC) and includes 4 layers of electrical redundancy allowing the user's control system to implement appropriate levels of diagnostic coverage when used in safety systems. Uniquely, our MPM switches the ACTIVE and NEUTRAL of the contactor coil - something we attribute to the wishes of an old friend long since passed. R.I.P Mr. Hartley.


Communications

- CAN 2.0B Interface

- Baud Selectable (Default 125kbs, 250kbs, 500kbs, 1Mbs)

- Plug Address Selectable (Up to 8 nodes per channel)

- All protection behavior is configurable via the user's PLC.


Notes on Motor Protection

Follows NEMA guidance and includes support for:

- Thermal Rating Overload using NEMA time current curves as standard. IEC curves available on request.

- Stall Overload with dual acceleration timers (programmable)

- Current Underload (programmable)

- Current Imbalance (programmable)

- 2 x Temperature (PT100) Inputs suitable for monitoring up to NEMA UL Class H insulation rated motors
