Open Digital Motor Control and Protection for Industrial Motor Applications.
Industry has long used inductive current transducers and/or motor protection relays to measure and manage motor load using a mixture of proprietary and industry normalised algorithms. However, these were commonly limited to 415V class motors - the workhorse of industry. For higher voltage 3-phase induction motors, intelligent motor protection and starter modules have taken root - all derivatives of the humble motor protection relay.
The MPM is an OPEN architecture mobile rated motor protection module capable of supporting 3-phase induction motors (and transformers) up to 3.3kV with measurement scale options to 600A or 1000A. Any control system with CANbus capability can integrate the MPM.
Where required, the MPM can also switch contactors directly (coils up to 240VAC) and include 4 layers of electrical redundancy allowing the user's control system to implement appropriate levels of diagnostic coverage when used in safety systems.
Uniquely, our MPM switches the ACTIVE and NEUTRAL of the contactor coil - something we attribute to the wishes of an old friend long since passed. R.I.P Mr. Hartley.

Notes on Motor Protection
Follows IEEE, IEC and/or NEMA guidance and includes support for:
- Thermal Rating Overload using NEMA time current curves as standard. IEC curves available on request.
- Stall Overload (with adjustable dual acceleration timers)
- Current Underload
- Current Imbalance
- 2 x PT100 Inputs suitable for up to NEMA UL Class H insulation rated motors
